SB-848
Important Update: Implementation of Senate Bill 848 (SB-848) beginning January 1, 2026.
New Requirement (SB 848 Compliance)
Effective January 1, 2026, Senate Bill 848 (SB 848) expanded existing school employee misconduct disclosure requirements for both public and private school. In summary, SB 848 requires a former school employer to release employment records pertaining to “egregious misconduct” of non-certificated (classified) employees and expands existing similar requirements for private school employers.
Per Section 44051 of the Education Code:
(a) (1) A person applying for a non-certificated position at a school district, county office of education, charter school, or state special school or diagnostic center operated by the department, or applying for any position at a private school, shall provide that prospective employer with a complete list of every school district, county office of education, charter school, state special school and diagnostic center operated by the department, and private school that the applicant has previously been employed by.
(b) For purposes of this section, non-certificated (classified) employees include non-certificated temporary employees regardless of the length of their employment.
To request information about applicants previously employed by ETUSD in compliance with SB-848, contact the Human Resources Department at SB848verifications@el-tejon.k12.ca.us.
